Hot Nordic Nights: A Tiki Cruise

Hot Nordic Nights: A Tiki Cruise

You asked for another adventure on the water, and we simply couldn’t say no. So grab your leis, your sequins, and your best Nordic/Seattle summer energy - the tiki boat is back!

Hot Nordic Nights: A Tiki Cruise

Get ready to set sail for a tropical night with a Nordic twist! Join us on Wednesday, August 26, as we depart from Fishermen's Terminal for a 7–9 PM cruise filled with great music, cocktails, costumes, and the ultimate Scandinavian soundtrack.

We'll be cruising around Lake Union on a beautiful late-summer evening. Grab a drink, soak in the views, sing along to your favorite songs, and enjoy the best of summer from the water.

We'll be celebrating Sweden's incredible pop legacy—from ABBA, Ace of Base, Roxette, and Robyn to chart-topping hits crafted by legendary Swedish hitmakers like Max Martin. If you've ever danced to Britney Spears, Bon Jovi, Madonna, Adele, the Backstreet Boys, or Taylor Swift, you've already been enjoying the magic of Swedish pop. You never know what favorite is coming up next!

This is a party on the water, so come ready for a soundtrack that turns up, plenty of singing along, and a boat full of summer energy. It’s the perfect night to dance, celebrate, and embrace the music—this isn’t a quiet sightseeing cruise!

Dressing up is highly encouraged! Think tiki shirts with Nordic flair, tropical glam, flower leis, Swedish summer vibes, or your best disco-meets-tiki-meets-Scandinavian style. Channel a little ABBA sparkle, a little Mamma Mia magic, or your own summer pop-star moment. The more fabulous, the better.

Rain or shine, we sail—because in true Nordic spirit: it's not the weather, it's the gear.

This 21+ cruise combines tropical fun, Scandinavian spirit, and a memorable evening on the water. A special Nordic-inspired tiki cocktail menu, along with beer, wine, cider, seltzer, nonalcoholic beverages, and snacks, will be available for purchase on board (not included in the ticket price). No outside food or drinks, please.

With room for just 34 guests, tickets are limited. Grab yours today and join us for a summer evening of Swedish pop, golden-hour views around Lake Union, creative cocktails, and Hot Nordic fun!

About: The Forty Drop Few

Originally from the American Southwest and now based in Portland, Oregon, The Forty Drop Few is a trio dedicated to the popular music of the early 1900s. Drawing inspiration exclusively from the vintage 78 rpm recordings they cherish, they perform an authentic blend of New Orleans jazz, Southwestern fiddle tunes, classic banjo rags, Black string band music, hillbilly harmonies, and distinctive period vocals.

The trio features Ethan Francis, Candra Edwards, and Elliot Kennedy, whose shared passion for early American music has taken them to performances across the country.

Joining them for this special evening is acclaimed pianist Andrew Oliver, celebrated for his energetic and authentic interpretations of early jazz piano. Influenced by legendary musicians including Jelly Roll Morton, James P. Johnson, and Earl Hines, Oliver's dynamic playing captures the infectious rhythms and spirit that helped bring jazz to the forefront of American popular music.

This special performance is presented in collaboration with the Puget Sound Traditional Jazz Society. Learn more at https://www.pstjs.org/.

Jenny Lind Day + Neighborhood Yoga

Celebrate Jenny Lind Day

Jenny Lind Special Event | Coming Soon!

Yoga | 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM | RSVP HERE

The Inaugural Jenny Lind Day at the Club

We are delighted to introduce a new Club tradition: Jenny Lind Day — an annual celebration of music, history, and the remarkable legacy of one of the 19th century’s most beloved performers.

For our inaugural celebration, guests are invited to join us for an elegant evening beginning with a welcome glass of wine and time to gather with friends before the performance. The evening will continue with a special concert Under the Chandelier, where the beauty and intimacy of live music will bring the spirit of Jenny Lind’s era to life.

Together, we will celebrate the artistry, generosity, and timeless influence of the woman known around the world as the “Swedish Nightingale.”

Why Jenny Lind?

Jenny Lind was more than a celebrated singer — she was a symbol of artistry, elegance, and generosity whose influence reached far beyond the concert stage.

With a voice that captivated audiences across Europe and America, Jenny Lind became one of the first true international superstars. Her performances brought people together and created a shared cultural experience that transcended borders.

Yet what made Jenny Lind truly extraordinary was not only her talent, but the way she used her success. She was known for her humility and philanthropy, dedicating much of her fortune to charitable causes and using her influence to support education, children, and communities in need.

Jenny Lind’s legacy reminds us that great artistry has the power to inspire, connect, and give back. She represented a rare combination of excellence, grace, and purpose — qualities that continue to resonate today.

With the inaugural Jenny Lind Day, we celebrate that same spirit at the Club: gathering together, enjoying exceptional music, and creating moments that will become part of our shared history.

Please join us for the first annual Jenny Lind Day — an evening of music, friendship, and celebration Under the Chandelier.

Viking Disco: Leif Erikson’s Birthday Bash

On October 9th, we’re celebrating the one and only Leif Erikson the only way that makes sense: with a full-blown Viking Disco. Because obviously, if anyone deserves a dance floor, mead vibes, and a mirror ball, it’s him.

Doors + bar open at 5PM, and the music kicks off at 7PM—giving you plenty of time to settle in, grab a drink, and assemble your fiercest attire.

Costumes are highly encouraged—think Norse meets disco, the more dramatic the better.

Come ready to raid the dance floor. Valhalla would absolutely approve. 🪩⚔️

About Leif Erikson
Leif Erikson was a Norse explorer from Iceland, believed to have been born around 970 CE. He is widely credited as one of the first Europeans to set foot in North America—nearly 500 years before Christopher Columbus—where he is said to have established a settlement known as Vinland, likely located in what is now coastal Canada. Son of Erik the Red, Leif is a central figure in the Icelandic sagas and a symbol of exploration, curiosity, and seafaring adventure.

Here in Seattle, his legacy is especially visible: a statue of Leif Erikson stands at Shilshole Bay, reflecting the city’s maritime identity and Scandinavian heritage. Other notable monuments honoring him can be found in places like Boston, Massachusetts, and Reykjavík, Iceland.

Members Dinner w/ Anita Karlsson-Dion

Bar opens at 5 PM | Dinner at 6 PM

Speaker at 6:30 PM | Meeting to follow

Join us for an evening of great food, community, and Nordic connection! It's the perfect opportunity to learn more about the Club, hear from our special guest speakers, and get the latest updates on everything we have going on.

About Speaker: Anita Karlsson-Dion

I am a happy hobby knitter with a great love for the Binge tradition and its beautiful patterns. My grandmother Rut taught me how to knit when I was about 10 years old. The Binge sweaters she knitted for me and my sister are now precious heirlooms that remind us of her craftsmanship and her love for us.

With a degree in Business and Economics from the Stockholm School of Economics, an Olympian, and a former Director of Finance and later Managing Partner at IBM Consulting in the USA, I now have the opportunity, time, and occasion as a 'young' retiree to enjoy knitting even more. My family and I still live in New York, and knitting Binge is an opportunity for me to remember and show respect for my Swedish female ancestors and their craftsmanship. I want to actively participate in spreading and bringing this Swedish cultural heritage to life for future generations, both within and beyond Sweden's borders.

Drop in anytime from 6–8 PM. The bar opens at 5 PM, so come early and don’t forget — happy hour runs all night long! Come solo or bring a friend. Everyone is welcome. 21+ only.

Seafair is a beloved Seattle summer tradition that brings the city together with parades, hydroplane races, neighborhood festivals, and one of its most famous highlights: the aerial performances over Lake Washington.

The Blue Angels are the U.S. Navy’s elite flight demonstration squadron, known for precision flying in F/A-18 jets at incredibly close formations and high speeds. Their annual Seafair performances are a Seattle staple, drawing crowds across the region to watch the jets roar over the lake and skyline.

Join the Swedish Club and the National Nordic Museum for a special screening of Kings of Kubb, the acclaimed documentary that dives into the surprising world of one of Scandinavia’s most beloved games. More than a backyard pastime, kubb is a battle of strategy, skill, and nerve—where wooden batons fly, rivalries are forged, and champions are crowned.

Set against the backdrop of the U.S. National Kubb Championship in Eau Claire, Wisconsin—the Kubb Capital of North America—Kings of Kubb follows four elite competitors as they pursue glory on the pitch. Along the way, the film reveals a compelling story of friendship, ambition, legacy, and the age-old question: what does it take to become king?

Film Screening at the National Nordic Museum
Thursday, July 30, 6:00 PM
Osberg Great Hall (doors open at 5:30 PM)

Come early and explore the Museum’s current exhibitions before the screening—including Moomins’ Sea Adventures and Tove and the Sea—and stop by Freya Café for a drink!

Gather at Skål Beer Hall
When the credits roll (approx. 8 PM), the saga continues at Skål Beer Hall. Join us for an informal post-film gathering where kubb warriors and Nordic culture enthusiasts can raise a horn together over drinks and conversation. As a special bonus worthy of the feast hall, guests who show their RSVP confirmation will receive 10% off their bill. Skål!

Tickets
$10 for Swedish Club and National Nordic Museum members
$15 General Admission

Whether you're a seasoned kubb warrior or discovering the game for the first time, Kings of Kubb is an entertaining and inspiring look at the sport that has captured hearts across North America. Come celebrate Nordic culture, cheer on unforgettable competitors, and discover why kubb has become a modern-day Viking obsession.
