Lunch & Lecture
The Swedish Club is excited to partner with SAHS (The Swedish-American Historical Society Swedish-American Historical Society and the Society for the Advancement of Scandinavian Studies (SASS) for a lunch and lecture on the opening day of the SASS conference in Seattle. Lunch will feature guest speaker and SAHS member Jennifer Eastman Attebery who will share examples from her new book As Legend Has It: History, Heritage, and the Construction of Swedish American Identity (University of Wisconsin Press, 2023). The book and talk examine how immigrants and their descendants used legendary materials to claim a place in American history. The event will include a short tour of the space led by Club staff members.

Exhibit Opening
This exhibit offers an overview of Sámi culture, traditions, and history. The Sámi, the indigenous people of northern Europe, live mostly in Sápmi, which covers parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia. The exhibit features information and artifacts that shine a light on the many facets of Sámi culture.
This exhibit is made possible through the support of the Pacific Sámi Searvi. Their invaluable contributions, including the loan of authentic objects and insightful knowledge, have been instrumental in bringing this exhibition to life.
Join us for opening remarks by the case, followed by an opportunity to socialize in the Three Crowns Bar. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

Join us for a unique opportunity to hear the visiting Swedish-Finnish choir Akademiska Sångföreningen (The Academic Song Society) on stage. This large choir was founded in 1838 and is Finland's oldest living choir. We are honored to host the choir here at the Swedish Club. Joining the The Academic Song Society on stage for part of the concert, are the Finnish Choral Society of Seattle and the Swedish Singers of Seattle. This event is presented in partnership with The Swedish Finn Historical Society. Don’t miss this chance to see this live!

Lo Dagerman is the daughter of renowned Swedish author Stig Dagerman and famous Swedish actress Anita Björk. Her book Himlen Nära (Heaven is Near) tells the fascinating story of her artistic parents and their life and love story in Sweden and America. A tribute to Elvis Presley from his old hits to his Vegas show. A must see. Tony Colinares, Seattle-based singer, actor, and musician brings the legendary persona to life. In 2016, he was voted “Seattle’s #1 Elvis” at the Seattle Elvis Invitationals. Colinares performs along with several other Filipino-Americans in the band, also hailing mostly from the Seattle area.
