Join us for our August Members’ Dinner as we welcome Charlie Lucia MacLean.

Charlie Lucia MacLean is a fourth-year Communication major at the University of Washington, minoring in Swedish and pursuing an additional minor in Business. Though she grew up speaking Swedish with her mother, she gradually became disconnected from the language. Upon discovering UW’s renowned Scandinavian Studies program—one of the top Swedish-language programs outside Sweden - she chose to enroll. Through her Swedish coursework, Charlie has reconnected with both the language and her heritage.

Charlie is the latest recipient of the Swedish Club scholarship, which is awarded to a UW Scandinavian Department undergraduate student for excellence in Swedish language, literature or area studies. On August 20, Charlie will join us at the member dinner to share her experience and how the scholarship supported her studies.
