Why the Nordic Exchange?
Events like the Nordic Exchange Dinner, shared between the Swedish Club and the Leif Erikson Lodge, are more than just social gatherings—they’re a celebration of shared heritage and a cornerstone of Nordic collaboration in our community.
The Nordic countries—Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, and Iceland—each have their own rich cultures and traditions. But here in the Pacific Northwest, these groups have a long history of cooperation, mutual support, and cultural exchange. The Nordic Exchange Dinner continues that tradition by offering us a chance to come together, not just as individual clubs, but as one extended Nordic family.
By rotating hosting duties and sharing our music, food, and stories, we strengthen the bonds between our organizations. These events create space for connection, shared identity, and community pride, while also welcoming new generations to experience the diversity and unity of Nordic culture.
In a time when many traditions risk fading, the Nordic Exchange is a vibrant reminder that our cultures are alive, evolving, and stronger together. Collaboration between the Swedish Club, Leif Erikson Lodge, and other Nordic groups ensures that we continue to support one another—and keep our heritage thriving for years to come.

Why We're Asking for a Contribution This Year
For years, the Nordic Exchange Dinner has been a cherished tradition—a time when one club hosts the other, offering a warm meal and cultural connection without expecting anything in return. But as times change and the costs of food, supplies, and venues continue to rise, it's become clear that in order to keep this tradition strong, we need to make it more sustainable.
That's why this year, for the first time, we are asking all attendees to contribute $15 toward the cost of dinner. This small, reasonable amount will help ensure that the hosting Lodge/Club is not burdened financially and can continue to offer a high-quality, welcoming event for everyone. It’s a modest step, but an important one toward supporting each other and sharing the responsibility that makes our community thrive.
We also welcome larger donations to help further offset the event’s expenses—especially for those who may want to underwrite or sponsor aspects of the evening. Your generosity makes a meaningful difference.
